Keeping You Up On The Latest Fashions

Ready Those Scarves for the Winter

November 3, 2012 By Teresa Te

As the winter season sets in the north, it’s time to check your wardrobe and make sure to have your winter clothes ready. To keep you from the cold, you need to have your jackets, sweaters, hoodies and boots out now.

One important clothing accessory you also need to use is the scarf. This item can do great things to your outfit and make you look fashionable as well.

Scarves are available in a wide range of styles, colors and patterns today and you can get them at low prices. They’re great in creating a stylish look without spending so much.

This clothing accessory can be made from various materials as well. Common materials used are soft wool, cashmere, silk, sheer, woven, jacquard knit and even fur or just the faux fur.

Because it’s so light, wearing a scarf should be very comfortable. Apart from keeping your neck area warm during the cold weather, it also provides an accent to your attire whether it’s a casual or semi-formal one.

To create your own style, you can wear the scarf in different ways. You can just let it hang on your neck or if you have a longer one, make a loop around your neck once with the ends simply hanging. You may also make a knot if it’s still possible.

Another way to use it is to make a single knot (ideal for the sheer and silk material) and position it either on the left or right depending on your preference.

Tying the scarf to create a bow or ribbon (just like you’re tying a shoelace) in front is also a great way to accentuate your top and overall outfit.

Creating a one-sided tie is also nice to look at. Do the step as if you’re tying a shoelace but only making one loop instead of making a bow.

Cufflinks are Making a Comeback

May 29, 2012 By Hannah

The most practical of men may wonder why they need to shop for cufflinks when finding dress shirts with buttoned cuffs is far easier not only to find, but also to put on. Then there’s the matter of cost. While the price of the dress shirts is not solely determined by whether they sport French cuffs (two holes with no buttons) or buttons of the cuffs, you can bet that you won’t find French cuffed shirts in the cheap range. Of course, there’s the small (or not so small) amount you’ll have to add for the cufflinks.

The truth is that with buttons around, cufflinks are indeed not the most practical of fashion choices. However, we all know that fashion is NOT about practicality. Why do we women wear heels when flats are more comfortable? Why do you choose one accessory over another? When it comes to fashion, although we do bless the hearts of great designers who manage to merge function with fashion, what’s usually more important is how things make us look and feel.

So if you ask why men should wear cufflinks? Then the answer is because they want to! Besides, cufflinks are really making a comeback in fashion, with these tiny accessories being the accessory of choice if you want a more formal look. Opting to wear French cuffed shirts and putting on matching cufflinks is equivalent to stowing away your sports watch and going for a more classy one for your evening look. Of course, you will find novelty cufflinks that definitely does not shout formal or classy, but if you want to look like you’re a teenager screaming for attention or you’re not going to a fun themed party, then it’s better to rely on more traditional looking cufflinks.

When it comes to choosing cufflinks, don’t think that just because you have a nice plain sturdy titanium cufflink means that you should wear that as your go to cufflink all the time. Remember, wearing cufflinks is a fashion statement, so better not commit a fashion faux pas while you’re at it. Make sure that your cufflink goes with other metal accessories you wear such as your belt buckle. If you’re wearing a gold buckle then put on gold cufflinks or silver cufflinks if you have a silver buckle on. Opt for designer cufflinks if you want to impress. For trendier cufflinks, make sure that the color matches or complements your dress shirt and tie although you should remember that no matter how nice your cufflinks may be, they’ll never compensate for a bad tie.

Men’s Luxury Watches for 2012

January 16, 2012 By Hannah

It used to be that people wore watches to tell time. While some still do, the truth is that the time for watches (excuse the pun) is over, thanks primarily to multi-function mobile devices that make the need for watches obsolete. Despite this, watches are still here to stay, if only for fashion’s sake.

As we pretty well know, your accessory can make or break your look. This is true for both men and women, and with men their main accessory remains to be the watch. So if you are looking for the perfect watch that will go well with most of your outfits, here are stylish watches you might want to add to your watch collection.

Capeland 10006 by Baume & Mercier

This flyback chronograph from Baume & Mercier looks classic with its polished steel finish, off-white dials, and Sapphire crystal case.

Longines L4.746.8.72

Part of the Longines Flagship Heritage Collection, this watch is simplicity at its best. Set in an 18KT Rose gold case and featuring a black leather strap, its a pity that you’ll probably have a bit of a hard time finding this one, already being sold out it many online shops.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona

Whoever said that rugged had to be ugly? Well the Cosmograph Daytona sure proves that wrong. This watch is not only good looking but has all the bells and whistles any outdoorsy person would want. The model shown about features a black leather strap and an Everose gold case, but the watch also comes in steel, white gold, and yellow gold, with the option of going for an oyster strap.
