Be Fashionable and Support Breast Cancer Awareness with Honeysuckle

October 14, 2011 By Hacked By AXL7

Kyle Unfug in Fashionably Pink Charity ShowOctober is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and what color would be more fitting to wear than the color of the year – honeysuckle?

Honeysuckle is just the right color to show support for breast cancer awareness, being just a few shades darker than the pink ribbon used as the breast cancer awareness symbol.

The fact that designers all over the world are also holding benefits for cancer awareness one after another, or at least featuring one or two creations in pink or honeysuckle as part of their Spring line in this year’s fashion week is heartening; not only because a significant amount of money will be raised to help in the fight against breast cancer, but also because we know that we’ll have even more fashion-forward choices as we don this lively color.

Just a few months ago, we gave some tips on how you can incorporate honeysuckle in your wardrobe, from honeysuckle dresses to accent pieces, and even ties for men. And if our suggestions then isn’t enough to inspire you to start wearing honeysuckle, maybe the latest from the runway will.

Here’s a short list of some of the fashion shows that celebrated / is set to celebrate the color pink in time for the Breast Cancer Awareness Month:

Phoenix Fashion Week – Fashionably Pink Charity Fashion Show (October 5)
LA Fashion Week – Project Ethos Goes Pink (October 14)
Pink Rocks the Runway (October 21)

Heels to Die For

June 14, 2011 By noemi

You probably think that that’s figurative – heels to die for. According to doctors, though, heels are something that could just about kill you. Ask the woman who is not used to wearing high heels. They’d probably agree without hesitation.

Think about those shoes that you love to death (no pun intended). Seriously think about them and how your feet feel after wearing them for a bit (not even for an hour). Forget the emotional aspect – you feel great because you look great in those shoes – but remember the physical pain.

That is precisely what doctors – podiatrists in particular – are saying:

“It’s partly why we have a job,” said Dr. Martin Alongi, a podiatrist at Beverly Hills Podiatrist in California.

“I just figure women in their 20s are going to do it. If they take care of their feet all the other time, most people can get away with it. There’s going to be an occasional person who injures themselves.”

So why are we continuing to wear high heels? Why do these heels keep getting higher and higher?

I suppose that you can answer that for yourself. It’s just the way it is. Never mind the pain and the risk of getting injured. Heels are sexy.

However, experts tell us that we do not have to suffer just to get the look we want. Heels don’t have to be six inches to look good, do they? Here’s something that you probably already know, but it’s a good reminder: wear what looks good and what makes you comfortable in ALL aspects.

Wear heels that will give you a look to die for, not a look that will kill you.

Laugh Your Way To A Healthy Look

October 24, 2010 By Fashion Bug

laughter350x330You may wear the most fashionable of clothes, buy the most expensive accessories, and generally have the most attention-catching ensemble; but this doesn’t mean anything if you look all stressed and worn out. In my mind, a healthy look is the foundation of the true fashionista. Forget the washed out look that some people have been going after. Go for the healthy glow that no other look can beat.

But what if you’re way too stressed at work? What if you don’t get much sleep at night? How can you get a head start on chasing the effects of stress away?

Take the doc’s advice: laugh more, look better.

Laughter has short term benefits. It stimulates our organs, thanks to the increased intake of oxygen. It also increases the endorphins released by the brain – these are chemicals which make us happy. When we laugh, we also soothe the tension in our muscles, generally making us feel better.

Of course, it also has long term benefits. Researchers say that laughter may improve our immune system. How so? Laughter releases “good” chemicals, like the endorphins mentioned above and neuropeptides. In the long run, these may help boost the immune system. Laughter also relieves pain, improves confidence, and gives an overall sense of satisfaction.

Combine all these things together and you will definitely have a look that no designer clothing, shiny bling, and colorful make up can emulate. That, my friends, is what will set you apart.
