Snow Boot and Winter Boot: What’s the Difference?

October 20, 2012 By Teresa Te

The winter season is slowly creeping in and it’s time to take out your boots once again. For those planning to buy a pair of boots for the first time, it’s best to know kind to buy. You need to choose carefully because it’s very important that you’re comfortable wearing them and they can be worn with almost any of your outfit.

Many people think that a snow boot is the same as a winter boot. They are both referred to as boots and have the same goal of protecting your feet from the cold but each has different uses.

Snow boots

A snow boot is water-resistant, has a high side extending above the ankle and has a rubber sole. This is meant for use in snow hence should be sturdy enough to protect your feet. You can use this whether in just an inch of snow or even in deeper wet snow or mud.

Gwyneth Paltrow: Oscar 2012 Best Dressed

February 29, 2012 By Hacked By AXL7

And the Oscar goes to…

Again we don’ care one bit. What we do care about is who showed up everyone else on the red carpet in this year’s Oscars, which everyone (including us) seem to agree is Gwyneth Paltrow.

Who would have thought that a full-length built-in white cape on a floor length white gown would look sensational. If you would have described it to me before seeing Gwyneth Paltrow don the dress, I would have automatically pegged it for tacky and super-heroish. When Gwyneth emerged sporting Tom Ford’s unique ensemble though, there was nothing super heroish about it at all, and was plain super. As Perez Hilton put it, “”If you look up best dressed in the dictionary you will see this picture of Gwyneth Paltrow. Her white Tom Ford gown with a built in cape is everything! This is going to be a look that goes down in Oscar red carpet history!”

Move over over-sized bows, ugly snake skins, and other fashion risks that just didn’t pay off, because this white-caped wonder is one unique risky dress that sure paid off.

If Gwyneth’s look inspired you to sport the same for some party though, I highly advice against it because for one, I doubt that you’ll be able to afford the Tom Ford dress. Secondly, unless you’ve got the goods to back it up and the confidence as well, I doubt you can pull it off just like Gwyneth did. Besides, what made it special is its unique creativity and being a copy cat is the exact opposite of that.

Heels to Die For

June 14, 2011 By noemi

You probably think that that’s figurative – heels to die for. According to doctors, though, heels are something that could just about kill you. Ask the woman who is not used to wearing high heels. They’d probably agree without hesitation.

Think about those shoes that you love to death (no pun intended). Seriously think about them and how your feet feel after wearing them for a bit (not even for an hour). Forget the emotional aspect – you feel great because you look great in those shoes – but remember the physical pain.

That is precisely what doctors – podiatrists in particular – are saying:

“It’s partly why we have a job,” said Dr. Martin Alongi, a podiatrist at Beverly Hills Podiatrist in California.

“I just figure women in their 20s are going to do it. If they take care of their feet all the other time, most people can get away with it. There’s going to be an occasional person who injures themselves.”

So why are we continuing to wear high heels? Why do these heels keep getting higher and higher?

I suppose that you can answer that for yourself. It’s just the way it is. Never mind the pain and the risk of getting injured. Heels are sexy.

However, experts tell us that we do not have to suffer just to get the look we want. Heels don’t have to be six inches to look good, do they? Here’s something that you probably already know, but it’s a good reminder: wear what looks good and what makes you comfortable in ALL aspects.

Wear heels that will give you a look to die for, not a look that will kill you.

Gisele’s Ipanema Flip Flops

March 14, 2011 By Fashion Bug

Forest_Brown_sandalThey’re not new, but they’re not out of fashion. If anything, flip flops are becoming more and more acceptable with the passing of the years. Then again, if your flip flops are as chic and sexy as the flip flops that bear Gisele Bundchen’s name, you’ll definitely be proud to wear them practically anywhere!

I have been eyeing this line of flip flops for a very long time now, but for some reason, I kept putting it off. Last month, though, right before I left for a week-long beach vacation, I decided to just go ahead and get myself a pair. I do NOT regret it; not one tiny bit.

So what’s up with these flip flops? A little background information: Ipanema is this long stretch of white sand beach in the southern part of Rio. Just imagine the lifestyle of the beautiful people there – that is summed up in a simple pair of flip flops. Seriously. The designs are simple and laid back but classy enough to wear to most places. From the beach to the bar and even to work (on dress down days I suppose), these sandals can be worn.

On the practical side, these flip flops are very very comfy. They are made of PVC material that is eco-friendly and they are so soft that you can walk around all day and not have your feet kill you at the end of the trek. They are a bit pricier than the average pair but they really are worth it.

Going Beyond Your Average Flip-Flop

January 27, 2011 By noelle

Now I don’t have anything against flip-flops. I have a few pairs of Havaianas, and I must say that I do love the comfort that these give me. I am never without a pair when I go to the beach.

Still, there are times ordinary flip-flops just don’t seem to go that well with a get-up. If you’re wearing a skirt or a stylish top, you might want to go for slightly more sophisticated footwear. The good news is that you don’t have to give up comfort to pull this off. A pair of Oka b. shoes might be just the thing you need.

Oka b. has been around for a few years now. It was released by the footwear company Okabashi in 2005 with the objective of combining the therapeutic effects of reflexology with a fun but elegant kind of fashion. As such, their thongs, slip-ons, and mules, which are made from a special rubbery material called Microplast, are specially shaped to stimulate key pressure points on the soles of one’s feet.

So all of this might sound good, but you may be wondering about the designs. After all, there are some women who will gladly give up comfort for fashion. The great thing about Oka b. is that it comes in wide range of designs, from the simple to the outlandish, quirky to classy. Each design also comes in a variety of colors, so you can easily find a pair to match your outfit. Personally, I like wearing Oka b. thongs while I’m lounging at the beach, because the pairs I have go so well with my sarongs.

In addition to their fabulous flats, they also have a line of shoes with a bit of heel. Petite ladies will love these because they can enjoy some added height without having to suffer all day. These can also be worn with a variety of outfits without looking out of place. People won’t even think you’re wearing rubber slippers!

I’ve been wearing Oka b. footwear for a few years now, but I just found out recently that they have a wedding collection, too! If you’re having a beach or garden wedding, you might not last until the end of the night wearing a pair of stilletos. If I were to have a beach wedding, I would definitely go for something like this. The bonus is that you can wear it over and over with other outfits.

You can also pick up a pair for your boyfriend, brother, or dad. Their men’s collection may not be very extensive, but there are a couple of versatile styles that also provide the benefit of comfort and instant reflexology.

For more designs, you can check out their website at www.shoesthatloveyou.com. I’m betting that you’ll love them back.
